As well as teaching fighting skills, all the martial arts had their roots in spiritual practice. Kung Fu and Qigong, for example, were introduced into Shaolin temples by Bodhidharma in the 6th century C.E., to address the terrible physical condition of the monks who spent their time meditating and copying scrolls. Our books reveal practices that are rooted in spiritual self-mastery, not just physical prowess.
